Welcome to my blog
I wanted to create a post that explains the vision I had for this blog. I realized in my most recent adult years that I have been learning so much with the experimentation that I've been doing. I wanted revamp and reorganize my blog into the following four categories: arts and crafts, home, cooking, and lifestyle and I have explained in greater detail my personal history in each category. The essence of my blog is to be transparent and honest through my trial and errors and I am not an expert in any of these areas. This is just a blog of a person who dedicates her life to self-improvement and these are the lessons that I learned along the way.
Arts and Crafts
I've always loved arts and crafts as long
as I can remember. My mom would indulge in my hobby and would tell my sister
and I that we could get one thing from Walmart at our weekly trips. My sister
and I would almost always pick something in the craft section. We would love
the sparkly and shiny stuff about it but also it allowed our imaginations to
run wild. As I got older, my desire for creating something new and unique never
waned. I love trying new things still and I honed in my crafting hobby into trying
new things that I've never had any experience before.
Home
In my
recent adult years, I've been interested in honing in my craft and style when
it comes to interior design and cooking. I've always had a fascination with
interior design when I was little and I first discovered the glory of HGTV. My
sister and I would love to watch this show called "Design on a Dime."
Like the title of the show suggests, it would give a short DIY craft that could
be done at a fraction of the costs in helping you update your home. It was
perfect inspiration for me when I was a grade school child but I've now been
inspired by other HGTV shows like "Fixer Upper." I've changed my
style three times or so in the past 5 to 6 years but I think I finally nailed
it down but I'm sure it will be subjected to more tweaks and evolution.
Cooking
When it comes to cooking, I hated it growing up.
I don't even know why but it just seemed so frustrating and it wasn't something
I was willing to put the time in to improve at the time. I think it's partly
due to the fact that growing up my parents would always take care of the food
and we would just eat whatever was on the table. I realized though when I was
on my own for the first time, that cooking was a necessity. I gained the
freshman 15 and then some because of my laziness and I ended up spending more
money on less quality food. I decided to finally take up the challenge in
improving my cooking skills and now I find the experience exhilarating. Having
healthy meals and being open to new things are the central ideas of my cooking
philosophy. From trying fusion, vegan, and other cultural dishes that are not
my own are some of the things I would like to share. I myself am not vegan but
I was introduced to it because of my sister and I love the creativity of it. My
body does not processes dairy products very well so I find that eating some
vegan dishes every once in awhile helps my diet. I've been only honing my skills for a few years now but I hope to continue crafting it for many years more!
Lifestyle
This last category is essentially a potpourri of ideas which includes organization, time
management, encouragement, fashion, and spiritual growth. Think of this page as
a new year's resolutions strategic plan which means the central idea of this
page is self-improving oneself. I believe that one should always want to
self-improve oneself and I'll be the first to admit that it's hard to keep
doing so. We're human and we have a natural inclination to subject ourselves to
comparison and discouraging thoughts. One of the biggest ways to combat that I
found is sharing ideas and having a support group keeping you accountable. I'm
hoping that being transparent and sharing my ups and downs will hopefully start
the conversation on the obstacles that are seemingly tripping us up every day
and one day to create a community of sorts of encouragement and love.
